Safety and Compliance of PCB Materials

Flammability – Laminates used in PC production usually contain flame retardants.  These constituents, when the laminate is exposed to flame, usually outgas and self extinguish.  Our laboratory conducts Horizontal and Vertical Burn tests to verify that these materials and their coatings will meet industry standard level of protection, such as  UL 94V-0.

High Voltage Breakdown

/ soldermask adhesion

Special test board is used to measure the soldermask adhesion and its arc through voltage subsequent to 3 levels of environmental testing.  This high voltage and scratch testing assures pore free coating and mask adhesion that is required for long term reliability and function of the soldermask.  This provides a secondary level of protection to critical circuits on the PCB.

Test Board for HVB and Adhesion

Salt DropThe laminate material/soldermask selected for your PCB application affects its ability to resist arc tracking during operation in a contaminated environment.   This contamination could be house-hold dust and/or environmental pollution.  This test subjects gradually increasing track to track spacing to cumulative .35% saline solution and computes the level of protection offered by the construction materials.
