HALT is intended to continuously improve the intrinsic reliability and design margins of a product during the design phase by:
Ø Rapidly uncovering design and/or processes weaknesses before reaching the manufacturing stage and the customer(s) by applying specific stresses to the point of failure on products during the design stage
Ø Correcting design weaknesses via failure analysis & corrective action
Ø Verifying the effectiveness of proposed design changes
Ø Defining the upper and lower operating as well as technology limits of the product
TLS is equipped with a Thermotron AST-35 HALT chamber, which applies over-stress to product in a controlled, stepped fashion, while continuously monitoring the product for failures to expose the weakest points in the design. The equipment incorporates a thermal chamber with vibration equipment and is capable of -100° C to 200° C excursions at 70° C per minute rate of change, while simultaneously applying vibration at 50 G RMS (max).
