Throughout this year, CR-Kunming has continuously optimized various aspects of logistics, expanding the types of goods and the scale of transportation in sea-rail intermodal operations, to facilitate the efficient and rapid flow of cross-border cargo. As of December 11, the sea-rail intermodal cargo throughput at the Hekou Railway Port at Sino-Vietnamese Border has reached 242,000 tons, including 181,000 tons of imported sulfur and 61,000 tons of exported diammonium phosphate.

To better serve the “Belt and Road” Initiative (BRI), in December 2017, multiple authorities of China and Vietnam, including railways and customs, jointly promoted the first international freight train in the form of a regular service. This was done through the “Five Fixed” train mode, which includes fixed loading points, operating routes, train numbers, arrival and departure times, and transport prices. This approach has significantly enhanced transportation efficiency, stability, and convenience, gaining favor among customers.

Since 2017, the two countries have transported over 63,300 trains and 3.65 million tons of cross-border cargo through the meter-gauge railway. This year, the international freight trains on the meter-gauge railway between China and Vietnam have been running steadily at a rate of 2 to 4 trains per day. This has effectively ensured the stability of the international supply chain and established a logistics corridor for transportation between China and countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand, creating a “heavy-load outbound, heavy-load return” route.
